1. The Importance of Regular Brake Inspections

Regular brake inspections are crucial for maintaining the safety and performance of your vehicle. During these inspections, our technicians at Newman's Automotive check for:

Brake Pad Wear: Brake pads wear down over time and need to be replaced to maintain effective braking.

Rotor Condition: We inspect the rotors for signs of wear, warping, or damage.

Brake Fluid Levels: Proper brake fluid levels are essential for effective braking.

By catching potential issues early, we can prevent more significant problems down the road and ensure your brakes function correctly.

           2. Common Signs Your Brakes Need Attention

Understanding the signs that indicate your brakes need repair can help you address issues before they become serious. Look out for these warning signs:

Squeaking or Squealing Noises: These noises often indicate worn brake pads.

Grinding Sounds: Grinding noises can signify that the brake pads are worn down to the metal, causing damage to the rotors.

Vibration or Pulsation: If you feel a vibration or pulsation when braking, it could be due to warped rotors.

Soft or Spongy Brake Pedal: A soft or spongy brake pedal may indicate air in the brake lines or a problem with the brake fluid.

Brake Fluid Maintenance: Keep an eye on your brake fluid levels and have the fluid replaced as recommended by your vehicle’s manufacturer.

Mindful Driving: Avoid aggressive driving and sudden stops, as these can accelerate brake wear.

           6. Understanding Brake System Components

To fully appreciate the importance of brake maintenance and repair, it's helpful to understand the key components of your brake system:

Brake Pads: These provide the friction needed to slow down and stop your vehicle.

Rotors: Rotors work with the brake pads to create the necessary friction.

Calipers: Calipers house the brake pads and use hydraulic pressure to press them against the rotors.

Brake Lines: These carry brake fluid from the master cylinder to the brake components.

Master Cylinder: This component generates the hydraulic pressure needed to operate the brakes.

           1. Weak Airflow

If you notice that the airflow from your car’s vents is weak, it’s a clear sign that your AC system may need attention. This issue can be caused by several factors, including:

Clogged Air Filters: Over time, air filters can become clogged with dirt and debris, restricting airflow.

Fan Issues: The blower fan might be malfunctioning or wearing out, reducing the airflow.

Ventilation Problems: Blockages or leaks in the ventilation system can impede the airflow.

At Newman's Automotive in Austin, TX, we can diagnose and fix these issues, ensuring your AC system blows strong and steady.

           2. Unusual Noises

Your car’s AC should operate quietly. If you start hearing strange noises when you turn on the AC, it’s time to have it checked. Common noises include:

Grinding or Squealing: These sounds often indicate a problem with the compressor or a worn-out belt.

Hissing: This could be a sign of a refrigerant leak or an issue with the AC’s internal pressure.

Our experienced technicians at Newman's Automotive are skilled at pinpointing the source of these noises and providing effective solutions.

           3. Foul Odors

A properly functioning car AC should not emit any unpleasant smells. If you detect a musty or moldy odor when you turn on the AC, it’s a sign that bacteria or mold may be growing inside the system. This can happen due to:

Moisture Accumulation: Moisture trapped in the system can lead to mold growth.

Clogged Air Filters: Dirty filters can harbor bacteria and mold.

At Newman's Automotive in Austin, TX, we offer thorough AC cleaning services to eliminate these odors and ensure fresh, clean air.

           4. Warm Air

Perhaps the most obvious sign that your car’s AC needs repair is if it starts blowing warm air instead of cool. Several issues can cause this problem, including:

Low Refrigerant Levels: Refrigerant is essential for cooling the air, and low levels can result in warm air.

Compressor Problems: The compressor is responsible for circulating refrigerant; if it’s faulty, the system won’t cool properly.

Electrical Issues: Faulty wiring or blown fuses can disrupt the AC’s operation.

The team at Newman's Automotive is equipped to handle these issues, restoring your AC’s cooling power efficiently.

           5. Leaking Fluid

Visible leaks around your car can be a sign of an AC problem. The refrigerant or coolant could be leaking, which not only affects the AC’s performance but can also be harmful to the environment. Common causes of leaks include:

Worn Seals and Hoses: Over time, seals and hoses can degrade and leak refrigerant.

Damaged Components: Impact or wear can cause parts of the AC system to leak.

Our experts at Newman's Automotive in Austin, TX, can identify and repair leaks, ensuring your AC system remains efficient and eco-friendly.

           6. AC Cycles On and Off Frequently

If your AC is cycling on and off more frequently than usual, it might indicate an underlying issue such as:

Refrigerant Leaks: Low refrigerant can cause the system to cycle improperly.

Faulty Sensors: Malfunctioning sensors can lead to erratic AC behavior.

Electrical Problems: Issues with the electrical system can affect the AC’s performance.

Ensuring your vehicle’s wheels are properly aligned is essential for safe driving, optimal handling, and prolonged tire life. At Newman's Automotive in Austin, TX, we specialize in comprehensive wheel alignment services designed to keep your vehicle performing at its best. In this blog post, we'll delve into the importance of wheel alignment, the signs that your car may need this service, and why Newman's Automotive is your go-to shop for all your alignment needs.

           Understanding Wheel Alignment

Wheel alignment, also known as tire alignment, involves adjusting the angles of the wheels so that they are set to the manufacturer's specifications. Proper alignment ensures that your tires meet the road at the correct angle, your wheels are pointing in the right direction, and your tires are centered in the wheel wells. There are three primary angles involved in alignment:

            Camber:

The angle of the wheel when viewed from the front of the vehicle. If the top of the wheel is leaning inward or outward, it indicates a camber misalignment.

            Toe:

The angle of the wheels when viewed from above. Wheels can be toe-in (pointing toward each other) or toe-out (pointing away from each other).

            Caster:

The angle of the steering axis when viewed from the side of the vehicle. Proper caster angle helps with steering stability and balance.

           The Importance of Wheel Alignment

Proper wheel alignment is crucial for several reasons:

            Improved Handling:

Properly aligned wheels ensure that your vehicle handles smoothly and responds accurately to steering input.

            Increased Tire Life:

Misaligned wheels cause uneven tire wear, which can significantly reduce the lifespan of your tires.

            Better Fuel Efficiency:

When your wheels are aligned correctly, there is less rolling resistance, which can improve your vehicle’s fuel efficiency.

            Enhanced Safety:

Proper alignment ensures that your vehicle tracks straight, reducing the risk of accidents caused by veering or pulling to one side.

Signs Your Car Needs a Wheel Alignment

Several signs can indicate that your vehicle may need a wheel alignment:

            Uneven Tire Wear:

If you notice that your tires are wearing unevenly or more quickly than usual, it could be a sign of misalignment.

            Vehicle Pulling to One Side:

If your car consistently drifts to one side, even when you're driving on a straight road, it's a clear indication of alignment issues.

            Steering Wheel Off-Center:

When driving straight, your steering wheel should be centered. If it's off-center, your wheels may be out of alignment.

            Vibrations in the Steering Wheel:

Misaligned wheels can cause your steering wheel to vibrate or feel unstable.

            Squealing Tires:

If you hear squealing noises from your tires, it might be due to improper alignment.

Tips for Maintaining Proper Wheel Alignment

Maintaining proper wheel alignment is essential for your vehicle's performance and longevity. Here are some tips to help you keep your wheels in line:

            Regular Inspections:

Schedule regular alignment checks, especially if you frequently drive on rough roads or hit potholes.

            Tire Maintenance:

Keep your tires properly inflated and rotate them regularly to ensure even wear.

            Avoid Overloading:

Avoid carrying excessive weight in your vehicle, as it can affect alignment and suspension.

            Drive Carefully:

Be mindful of road hazards like potholes and curbs, as hitting them can knock your wheels out of alignment.

Understanding Your Car’s Check Engine Light

The check engine light is part of your vehicle’s onboard diagnostics system (OBD), which monitors your vehicle’s performance. When it detects a problem that could affect your vehicle’s emission system or efficiency, it triggers the check engine light to let you know that something needs attention. Here are some common reasons why this light may come on:

            Loose Gas Cap:

Sometimes, the simplest issue, like a gas cap that isn't tightened properly, can cause the light to come on.

            Faulty Oxygen Sensor:

This sensor monitors how much unburned oxygen is in the vehicle's exhaust and helps manage engine efficiency.

            Malfunctioning Catalytic Converter:

Essential for reducing exhaust gases, a failing catalytic converter can trigger the light.

            Spark Plugs and Wires Issues:

Worn out spark plugs or spark plug wires can also be culprits, affecting engine performance and emissions.

            Mass Airflow Sensor Failure:

This sensor tells your car’s computer to add the correct amount of fuel based on the air coming through to the engine. A malfunction can affect fuel economy and engine performance.

           Why Timely Diagnostics Are Crucial

Ignoring the check engine light can lead to more serious problems down the road, including severe engine damage and costly repairs. Timely diagnostic checks can help:

            Prevent extensive damage:

Early diagnostics can catch issues before they escalate into more significant problems.

            Save money:

Addressing problems early on can save you a considerable amount on repairs that become more extensive if left unchecked.

            Ensure safety:

Some issues related to the check engine light can impact vehicle safety, making timely checks critical.

In the heart of Austin, TX, where the vibrant city buzz meets the road's call, your vehicle's enduring performance is paramount. At Newman's Automotive, we understand that your car is more than just a means of transportation—it's your daily companion, a participant in your adventures, and a crucial part of your daily routine. That's why today, we're focusing on a vital yet often overlooked component of your vehicle: the timing belt. Understanding when to replace it can save you from unexpected breakdowns and costly repairs, ensuring your car runs smoothly on Austin's dynamic roads.

The Critical Role of Your Car's Timing Belt

Your car's timing belt is the unsung hero of your engine, a vital part orchestrating the synchronized dance of your engine's valves and pistons. It ensures that each valve opens and closes at the correct times, allowing your engine to run efficiently. However, like any other part, it wears out over time. A snapped belt can lead to catastrophic engine damage, often resulting in expensive repairs or even the need for a complete engine replacement.

Knowing When to Replace Your Timing Belt

The general recommendation is to replace your timing belt every 60,000 to 100,000 miles, but this range can vary based on your car's make and model. In the bustling city of Austin, where temperatures can soar and traffic conditions demand constant starts and stops, these factors can accelerate the wear and tear on your timing belt.

Signs Your Timing Belt Needs Attention

            Unusual Noises

: A ticking or whirring noise from your engine might be a telltale sign your timing belt is due for a check-up.

            Engine Misfires

: A worn-out belt can affect your engine's timing, leading to misfires.

            Rough Idling

: Noticeable changes in the engine's idle smoothness can be a clue that your timing belt is worn out.

However, waiting for these signs can be risky. Often, a timing belt will fail without any prior symptoms, leading to immediate and severe engine damage.

Expert tips to ensure your AC system remains efficient and reliable:

            Regular Inspections

: Just like regular check-ups with a doctor, your car's AC system needs periodic inspections to identify any potential issues before they escalate. At Newman's Automotive, our skilled technicians conduct thorough inspections, examining components such as refrigerant levels, compressor functionality, and leaks, ensuring your AC system operates at peak performance.

            Keep it Clean

: A clean AC system is a happy AC system. Over time, debris, dust, and mold can accumulate in your car's air filters and vents, obstructing airflow and compromising air quality. Regularly cleaning or replacing air filters is essential for maintaining optimal performance and ensuring a healthy environment inside your vehicle.

            Monitor Refrigerant Levels

: Refrigerant is the lifeblood of your car's AC system, responsible for cooling the air that enters your vehicle's cabin. Low refrigerant levels can indicate leaks or other underlying issues. If you notice a decrease in cooling efficiency or unusual sounds coming from your AC system, it's crucial to have it inspected promptly to prevent further damage.

            Address Strange Odors

: Unpleasant odors emanating from your AC vents can be indicative of mold or bacterial growth within the system. Ignoring these odors not only compromises air quality but also poses health risks to you and your passengers. At Newman's Automotive, we offer comprehensive odor removal services, eliminating any sources of foul smells and restoring freshness to your car's interior.

            Professional Maintenance

: While DIY maintenance can be tempting, entrusting your car's AC system to professional hands ensures thoroughness and precision. Our team at Newman's Automotive possesses the expertise and specialized tools to diagnose and repair AC issues efficiently, saving you time, money, and headaches in the long run.

            Stay Proactive

: Don't wait until your AC system fails completely to seek assistance. Proactive maintenance and timely repairs can prevent minor issues from snowballing into major problems. Whether it's strange noises, weak airflow, or unusual odors, don't hesitate to reach out to Newman's Automotive for prompt and reliable solutions.

5 Myths Regarding AWD Tire Replacement

There are a lot of misconceptions about all wheel drive tire replacement. Here’s what you need to know.

All Tires with Matching Designations are The Same Size

If you wonder about replacing two tires now and two later, you might be thinking that the same number is going to match across models and manufacturers. Well, depending on the stock keeping unit, those wheels could be wider, narrower, or slightly different heights from maker to maker. For that reason, it is very important to replace tires with the same manufacturer and model.

Low Profile Tires and Large Diameter Wheels are a Fit for Better Handling

If you’re always handling heavy loads, you might try the trick of putting low profile tires on large diameter wheels. That’s actually going to only give you the false feeling of extra grip. In fact, the tread compound is going to wear incorrectly, and your suspension may not be able to keep the tires on pavement through bumps and blips in the road. What many thing is a trick to help you and your load is actually a safety hazard.

New Tires Can Burst Easily on AWD Cars if you Near the Max Press Number

The myth behind max press numbers of a tire and burst pressure are incorrect. The maximum amount of weight a tire can carry is indicated in the max load number, and even when over the max press amount, it will not be a sure thing that the tire bursts. Don’t hesitate to double the max press of a new set of tires if you go over, but be careful: it can be easy to hit a pothole and pop a tire at super-high pressure.

Replacing Two Tires at a Time Saves Money

It may seem smart to save money and buy tires two at a time, only replacing the ones in worst shape. In fact, that leads to many issues with tread consistency and alignment. In an all wheel drive vehicle, every tire should receive the same amount of pressure and power, and different treads on various tires can cause that to be disproportionately distributed.

Tread Matters Less When All Four Tires Are Working Together

Some think an AWD car is better at lower treads thanks to more teamwork when it comes to driving. That’s not true at all. Curious about your tread? Reach out to Newmans Auto for a new set of tires, or an inspection to see what might need some work on your all wheel drive vehicle.

People use riding rough to describe different types of car problems. For one, some folks use the terminology to explain how the engine is running. However, on other occasions, drivers use the words to refer to how bumpy and rough their vehicles are riding. This article is going to be focusing on the latter. The last thing anybody wants is to get behind the wheel of a car, only to discover that the front end is rattling and shaking violently. Unfortunately, with potholes, curb checks, and more, that is often what they wind up with, though.

Alignment issues should never be left as-is. Why? Well, because the operator could lose control of the vehicle if symptoms like the ones mentioned above arise. Then, if a crash ensues, injuries, or death can enter the picture. Austin residents may be able to avoid these fates by promptly taking their vehicles to Newman’s Automotive after problems present themselves. The team has the needed experience and skill to get their cars riding smoothly again. Now, let’s take a peek at some other things that can cause a rough ride.

           Old And Worn-Out Shocks

Most folks don’t go around thinking about the shocks of their vehicles. After all, the parts remain out of sight and out of mind. However, if an individual’s car begins bouncing all over the place, worn-out shocks could be to blame. The pieces do not last forever, and most experts agree that the units should be replaced every 50,000 to 100,000 miles. Aside from a rough ride, autos may appear lower on one side or end when old shocks fail.

           Improperly Balanced Tires

Sometimes, a rough ride issue can be brought on by improperly balanced tires. Anyone that has ever been to a tire shop, at least one where mounting and balancing takes place, knows that the rims receive weights to ensure that the wheels roll smoothly down the road. If one of the anchors falls off, particularly at the front end, a vehicle can start shaking and bouncing. Then again, if the tires are not inflated to the appropriate level, the same problems could occur.

It is no secret that the cars of today are composed of highly complex systems. When one of them begins to systems fail, it can produce a ton of different sounds such as tapping, rattling, and even clicking. These can all be indicators of serious issues, and, as such, it would be beneficial to seek out the assistance of a certified mechanic as soon as time permits. Newman’s Automotive in Austin has the experience to quickly diagnose and fix any issue that your car may be experiencing.

Clicking can be caused by a number of things. For starters, the annoying noise could be coming from a belt. Then again, joints and supports might be to blame too. Even a CV axle shaft may be at fault. This particular piece is located at the front of the vehicle and is well known for producing a tapping sound after damage occurs. Typically, a person can hear the disturbing and annoying racket upon accelerating or taking sharp turns.

It Is Best To Get A Malfunctioning CV Axle Shaft Repaired Or Replaced Quickly

Vehicle owners that let CV axle shaft issues linger on and on could be in for a world of hurt. If the unit deteriorates and falls apart while they are driving, they may be unable to control the car. Then, a single or multi-car accident might become part of the equation, which no one wants. Why? Well, because participating parties can sustain injuries and even lose their lives in the event, that is why.

Electrical Components Can Cause The Same Issue

Electrical problems often make clicking noises as well. For instance, a car battery that is suffering from low voltage will generate rapid clicking sounds upon the driver making every effort to start the vehicle. It is not uncommon for the battery to stop being able to supply a consistent amount of voltage as it ages. When this occurs, the starter may turn itself on and off quickly, resulting in the abovementioned sounds. In this instance, the battery or alternator may need to be replaced.

What Kind Of Freon Does My Car Take?

This is a question that most people don’t know the answer. If you drive an older car or a newer vehicle – it is important to know what kind of freon your vehicle takes if your air conditioning needs to be recharged at any point. ..

This is a question that most people don’t know the answer. If you drive an older car or a newer vehicle – it is important to know what kind of freon your vehicle takes if your air conditioning needs to be recharged at any point.

There are two types of refrigerant or freon – the first one is called R12, while the other one is R134a. They may sound just like similar part numbers, but there are major differences between them. And it is important to understand the difference between the two so you don’t accidentally mix up the two and hurt your air condition system.

For starters, R12 was the one that is on older vehicles. The R12 refrigerant is still used in some older cars, especially the vehicles that haven’t been switched over to a more modern and environmentally safer system. Before 1995 most vehicles used R12 refrigerants. Since 1995 many manufactures have converted their air conditioning systems to a system that now uses R134 refrigerant, which is a refrigerant that is not believed to harm the environment.

So, a good rule of thumb is if you own a vehicle that is newer than 1995 your engine should take R135a refrigerant, but if you have a vehicle older than 1995 you are going to be purchasing R12 refrigerant. If you are still concerned you might be using the wrong refrigerant, look under the hood. There is a sticker under the hood that will show you exactly what refrigerant you should use for your engine.

Do you have an older vehicle and want to convert it to a newer system; it is possible to make the conversion if you have an older model. Within minutes you can be on your way to the refrigerant that is better for the planet! If you are still concerned about what you should be using or other questions about your air conditioning unit – give us a call or stop by the shop at Newman’s Automotive. We are happy to help answer any questions that you may have about your engine and your air condition system.

It seems like it could be such a far stretch but your engine coolant, or also known as anti-freeze can get into the automatic transmission fluid. This coolant regulates the temperature of transmission fluid is regulated inside the engine cooling system. When the fluid passes through a small tank inside the engine’s radiator it cools the engine. If there was a rupture of the internal radiator tank can cause the coolant to mix with and contaminate transmission fluid. The engine coolant can also become polluted by the transmission fluid, as the pressures of either liquid vacillate. The extent of damage to either circuit depends on the severity and longevity of the internal leak.

All transmissions have a cooling line that runs to the radiator. A separate fluid passage circulates the transmission fluid through a portion of the radiator to cool the fluid. Sometimes, a leak develops in the radiator between the coolant passage and the transmission fluid passage, and the coolant gets into the radiator. It is odd if you are to find transmission fluid in your coolant. They are separate lines and there is no way for the lines to have been crossed if you recently had maintenance done to your engine. The best explanation is user and human error. The next option is that there is a leak in one of your systems and it is leaking over into the opposite system.

There are a few simple steps to checking and inspecting your oil before you schedule or purchase the items for an oil change. So we’ve included a few tips on how to inspect your oil:

Park your car on level ground to ensure you get an accurate reading. Turn off the engine and wait 10 to 15 minutes for it to cool down.

Manufacturers used to recommend that you check your oil when the engine was cold, to give the oil a chance to settle in the oil pan. Many manufacturers have since recalibrated their dipsticks to read correctly even when the engine is warm. Check your owner’s manual for vehicle specific instructions.

With the engine off, pop the hood and locate the oil dipstick. It often has a red or orange plastic tab on it. If a quick look around the engine doesn’t help, refer to your owner’s manual. Some newer cars monitor oil levels electronically and don’t allow manual oil checks.

Remove the dipstick. It’s not necessary to wear gloves for this part, but you may want to do so to keep your hands clean. Spoiler alert: You’ll get a sneak peek at your oil’s level and consistency, but an oil dipstick reading at this step is unreliable. Keep reading and don’t skip step four.

Wipe the dipstick (from the handle to the tip) with a clean rag or paper towel. The reading you get from pulling the dipstick out the first time isn’t accurate because the motor oil can splash around or wick upward on the dipstick.

Reinsert the dipstick. Be sure to push the dipstick all the way back in,
wait for a second, and then remove it again.

Review the level of oil on both sides of the dipstick. Indicators toward the bottom of the stick will let you know if the oil is low, good, or high.

           Detail: Keep it clean.

Motor oil gets contaminated several ways, including debris introduced through the air, tiny metal shavings from the engine itself, and combustion by-products. A clean oil filter helps fend off these contaminants so that your motor oil can do its job. Every Firestone Complete Auto Care oil change comes with a filter change, but not all oil change providers include this in their standard service.

Visually inspect the color and consistency of the oil on the stick. This can help you determine the oil’s current effectiveness. If your oil appears black, thick, gritty, or milky, it might be time for an oil change.

Wipe the dipstick off again and put it completely back into its tube. Make sure it is fully inserted. Close the hood.

If your oil check indicated that oil is low, off-colored, or a strange consistency, visit Newman’s Automotive to speak with an oil expert. We’ll perform a courtesy checkup and if needed, an expert oil change.

Have you ever been driving down the road and you started to feel you steering wheel start to shake when you get up to a certain speed? Or when you apply the brakes you can feel the whole car shaking and you can feel it through the steering wheel? This can be very concerning for most people and for good reason! This is an early indication of a few problems that you need to get fixed before the issue gets worse and more expensive.

           Warped Brake Rotors.

This is the most common reason as to why your car will start to shake when you are driving or when applying the brakes. As the problem continues to get worse and left unsolved you will notice how your car will start to shake more violently. The reason this happens is because the surface of your brake rotor gets worn down over time and eventually becomes too thin. This is a pretty easy fix, however, left for too long and the problem can start to effect other aspects of your vehicle.

           Squealing or grinding

Have you ever heard a high-pitched squealing sound when you apply your brakes? Squealing or screeching is a sign your brake pads are wearing down and need replacing. Deep, low grinding sounds can mean your pads have worn away so much that there’s metal-on-metal contact. This can significantly damage your vehicle, so get your brakes checked straight away if you hear this noise.

           Signs you can see

One way to know the condition of your brakes is to look at them. You can check the thickness by peering through the spokes of your wheels, where you should see your brake pad pressed against the metal rotor. If your pads are thinner than a quarter of an inch (around 3mm), it’s probably time to replace them.

           Response time

If your brakes do not feel like they’re responding well when you put your foot down, be sure to get them inspected. This is called ‘brake fade’ and happens as your brakes wear down and become less effective over time. If the pedal feels like it’s sinking towards the floor or you have to press it right down before your brakes engage, your brake fluid might be leaking. Keep an eye out for a small puddle of fluid on the ground when your car is parked, which also indicates a leak. This problem could also be caused by an air leak in the hydraulic system, or your brake pads might need replacing.

           Pulling or vibrating

When you notice a change in how your brakes feel, that’s a sign they need attention. If your car seems to pull to one side as you brake, that indicates your brakes are wearing unevenly. They might need adjusting or replacing, so get them checked by a mechanic.

The reason why your car is clicking could change a lot based on what you are trying to do: are you trying to start your car? Is the car clicking while you are driving? Turning on the heater?

There are a lot of factors into why your car is making clicking noises.

If you hear a clicking noise when you are trying to start your car.

It is probably a battery. When there is a lack of power in the car, means that either there is low voltage or high resistance. In short, your battery is probably dead. Try jump-starting and/or charging it back up, and if that doesn’t work, then it might be time for a replacement. If the problem is high resistance, there could be corrosion on the battery, the electrical connectors and/or charging system, or even a loose cable. Before replacement, look at the terminals to check for corrosion and check the cables to make sure they are properly connected.

If you hear a clicking noise when you are turning on the heat or the A/C in your car that could be a sign that your system needs to have some maintenance.

One of the components of the system, the heater plenum, contains a mechanism called “blend doors” that regulate the mix of cool air to warm air as the user switches the controls from one climate setting to another. These blend doors run on an electric actuator that can produce clicking noises when it fails. The air conditioner compressor may also make a soft clicking noise if its refrigerant supply has run low.

You might hear clicking from the ignition or the exhaust

It could be because the system has lost its efficiency. If any piece of this system fails, the system can produce electricity to ground. This discharge can sound like a clicking noise. The spark plugs can also produce clicking noises on their own if they become loose.

All of these issues can cause great concern to the person whose car is clicking, have no fear they are all explainable and can all be fixed, and we at Newmans Auto can take care of you.
